Content Note: This story includes audio from John “Panda” Hermoso.
This audio story originally was to be published on May 6th, 2022. We lost Panda, our dear friend and ride leader a week before that date on April 30th, 2022.

It has been difficult for me to put out this story. At multiple points there have plans to fully transcribe the audio, create an extended cut, include photography from his friends to make a more worthy tribute. Ultimately, these plans proved to be too much pressure, a project too painful to revisit.
Panda’s influence has impacted so much of the cycling community in Los Angeles. He freely gave his time, knowledge, and love to this community, and we still feel that sense of openness and fellowship today.
Two years later, I feel it is time to publish this work as-is. Hopefully this story is a testament to not only the man but the community he loved so dearly. For those who knew him, I hope this small work can provide some comfort. For those who didn’t know him, I wish this story could fully articulate how much his presence not only as a cyclist, but as a person, is missed everyday.

Panda’s Ponies rides from the Griffith Park Pony Rides Wednesdays at 6:30(ish) am. All are welcome.
